How SMS opt-in works
Symphony SBS sends two kinds of text, each opted into separately. No marketing.
- One-time security codes (Symphony SBS security codes): people choose them as their two-step verification method, and can use an authenticator app instead.
- Message alerts (Symphony SBS message alerts): a text when a business user has an unread message in their business's Mail. Only for people who opt in, at businesses whose admins allow it.
Security codes
Steps
- The person signs in to their Symphony SBS account.
- They open Account → Security → Two-step verification and choose Text message.
- They enter their mobile number, tick the consent checkbox (unticked by default), and select “Text me a code”. Without the tick, no message is sent.
- We text a verification code, which they enter to confirm the number. From then on, they receive a code when they sign in.
Each consent is recorded with the time, the masked number, and the wording version (sms-2fa-v1).
